Comfort Socks Newsletter - August 2013

            New Socks for Homeless Shelters

So Much Exciting News This Month!
Why the big smiles? Comfort Socks founder Theresa Tese and New Hope Clinic Executive Director Sheila Roberts are happy knowing 120 people in our community will receive diabetic socks. These socks were made possible by a 2013 grant to Comfort Socks from ATMC. New Hope Clinic was also a 2013 ATMC Grant recipient. Thank you again ATMC, both Comfort Socks and New Hope Clinic are happy to know these socks will go a long way in meeting our local community needs.
Comfort the Feet, Comfort the Soul.
Those of you who have followed us for a while understand our heart for the youth of this nation. That is why we are excited to partner with new sock recipient agency Mychels Munchies. Read their story about how the simple and pure desire of a child to help the homeless has grown into a powerful ministry (http://www.mychelsmunchies.com/home.htm)

Our heart breaks each day for all the homeless of the nation, but especially hard for the youth on the streets - so to see this facebook post (below) from Comfort Socks partner - StandUp for Kids (Seattle), and know that Comfort Socks provided the socks for this homeless youth touches us deeply.

Met this #homeless #youth outside of #youthcare #orioncenter hoping for a bed. Maybe a chance to take care of his feet & put on the new clean fresh socks he was so grateful we gave him. He's been traveling across the state looking for a safe place to settle so he can get his GED & work. Such a kind young man! Hope things go well for him here in #Seattle and we have a chance to speak with him again to talk more about his goals! #standupforkids #volunteer

So we believe that all things work together for good and in perfect timing - If the above story has touched you - know that NOW is the right time to act on that feeling.

Comfort Socks has just received special pricing from Northpines (northpines.org), a clothing distributor and long time Comfort Socks supporter. A Word from Our Founder

Monetary Donations are down – but our spirits are still up! Why? Because Comfort Socks has always been a mission of faith, in that every pair of socks we give to homeless shelters and non-profits, we simply believe that person receiving the socks will indeed receive the comfort we long to provide. We do not need to see the fruits of our labors to know we are effective. Encouragement comes in the form of phone calls, Facebook interaction, donations of resources and socks. Please know that we are sincerely grateful for your attentiveness to the needs of others, and that you have chosen Comfort Socks as a way to express your desire to help.

Your support of Comfort Socks has allowed us to receive 45,892 pairs of socks so far.  We are so grateful to all our supporters. First: We wish Comfort and Compassion are known by our actions and to all sock recipients.  Second: We pray for Blessings for our supporters, sock recipients, and those without a home. Third: Please stay mindful of us and remember us monthly, if you can. Special Thanks to New Life Christian Fellowship http://www.newlifecf.net for allowing us the use of their facilities and for their prayers and support for our mission.

Do you own real estate may wish to donate to us? Now might be a  BEST time to consider the tax benefits of donating property to a non-profit like Comfort Socks. If you have a piece of property that you are unable to sell or lease, a donation of that real estate to Comfort Socks would be of interest to us and may be of great benefit to you. Please contact me so we can discuss these opportunities.

Comfort Socks is a 501(c)3 public charity that collects and distributes new socks for homeless
