            New Socks for Homeless Shelters

Socks and Gifts

On Friday Morning, Dec 6, 2013 - volunteers are gathering to bind socks and small gifts together with Christmas ribbons, handkerchiefs and bandanas. We welcome you to contribute some handkerchiefs and bandanas (great extra for the homeless men), small items women might like, or some small toys (for boys and girls). Please have these items to us by Thursday Dec 5. The new sock gifts will be delivered to the guests of Good Shepherd Center in Wilmington at a later date.

Comfort the Feet, Comfort the Soul.

....readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.

One thing we know for sure, is that each person who receives a pair of Comfort Socks is deeply grateful. We know this by their words and expressions.  They want to repay this kindness somehow - and so it is  - that something goods moves another good thing forward.

How exciting it is to touch another - please know that we, too, experience a great gratitude everytime one of our supporters donates to our cause. Whether it is socks, time or money, each gift is received by us with a joyful heart. So please allow me a few minutes to remember those who touched us this month.

Socks and Smiles - right before your eyes Thank you, Leslie and the Arbor Creek Community for delivering 134 pairs of happiness!

Multiple thanks to the Calabash Elks Ladies Auxiliary, Ms Elizabeth Benton & Elizabeth’s daughter for blessing us yet again with socks from the heart. Each one of you are amazing women stepping forward in unselfish action time and time again. We are so happy we have connected.

Girl Scout Troop # 3481 from Charlotte have been busy, busy, collecting and boxing up 52 pairs of socks - a job well done young ladies!

We appreciate the blessings we received from St. Lukes Lutheran Church, Jackie Helfrich, William White and New Life Christian Fellowship this month. Warm socks coming soon!

Comfort Socks received great smiles from the volunteers and Ms. Katrina Knight- Executive Director of Good Shepherd Center the day we delivered Mitscoots Socks. Mitscoots Socks are created especially for the homeless foot - so what better place for them than at Good Shepherd Center - our local homeless shelter serving so many from New Hanover and Brunswick Counties. Now that's something to be thankful for. We love you Mitscoots Socks and Good Shepherd Center.

is December 3 – As you consider the many charities before your eyes, we pray that Comfort Socks holds a dear place in your heart. Please remember Comfort Socks efforts are accomplished through the time given by volunteers. May you decide to Give Love through Comfort Socks. Thank You.

A Word from Our Founder

As the Christmas Season approaches - I ask that you especially remember those alone - and give of yourselves this Christmas Season. There are many simple ways you can create a smile. Please visit a shut-in, step aside and allow someone to go before you in line. Perhaps cook a meal for someone who lives alone, or offer to take someone who doesn't get out much to the store (the fresh air will do them good). It is in giving of ourselves that we find and grow in that part of ourselves that knows good things, and from good things, come good gifts. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights (James 1:17)

Your support of Comfort Socks has allowed us to receive 46,817 pairs of socks so far.  We are so grateful to all our supporters. First: We wish Comfort and Compassion are known by our actions and to all sock recipients.  Second: We pray for Blessings for our supporters, sock recipients, and those without a home. Third: Please stay mindful of us and remember us monthly, if you can.
