Comfort Socks Newsletter - December 2013

            New Socks for Homeless Shelters

2013 & 2014

2013 was an amazing giving year from Comfort Socks Supporters, and with gratitude, we receive this as a sign of an Exceptional 2014!

During 2013, socks went to several times to multiple agencies in Arizona, California, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Virginia, and Washington State.

Our volunteers and supporters enable us to accomplish our work – and such important work it is. Who can measure warmth? Who can measure the gift of knowing a stranger whom you will never meet cares about you? Who could understand that a simple thing like a pair of socks provides these things? You and the sock recipient understand. Thank you for allowing Comfort Socks to be a way for your compassion to be known.

Love is what Comfort Socks volunteers give. Early in December Miss L'lena of Shepherds Assembly and Terry Garrison, generous giver of his time lovingly placed ribbons were set around three socks, with a hidden surprise or two in each one. Good Shepherd guests were so grateful to receive Comfort Socks love. Thank you, Miss L’lena and Terry, We love you both and thank you for your service.

Already we have exciting news for 2014! Comfort Socks is proud to welcome Ms. Sasha Vann as our Marketing Director. Sasha Vann is an aspiring teacher with the heart of a student and a mind of a curious child. A freelance writer and social media manager, she uses her daily work to advocate all things that represent service to humanity. Welcome to the Comfort Socks team, Sasha! We appreciate your service.

Comfort the Feet, Comfort the Soul.

The #'s are IN!

Comfort Socks has received over 50,000 pairs of socks so far! Now that’s a number we like – Keep em coming and we will keep em going to the people who need them!

We were honored to attend the Dailey & Vincent show at the BCC Odell Williamson auditorium. Many brought socks with them to the show, 559 pairs collected that evening! It's a night that we will remember for a long, long, time.

We got to spread a whole lotta love around thanks to Robin Braswell Hucks and Osceola UMC SC. Your faith in action will bless over 135 people. YAY!

Brunswick Plantation – over 2100 pairs of socks - 'Neighbors in Service' truly does
describe the amazing group of women from Brunswick Plantation.

Their service to Comfort Socks and to many other non-profits in our local community is simply amazing.  During November, Neighbors in Service collected 6 huge bags of socks donated by the generous Brunswick Plantation Community residents. These socks mean the difference between a cold sleepless night and warm peaceful one. Neighbors in Service, thank you for an outstanding job of giving comfort from the heart! Featured in Picture are Neighbor in Service leaders Dolores Matern, Jeannine Chomiak and Volunteers !

Things are happening in Vero Beach FL - thanks to Susie our Comfort Box rep! With Susie's help and guidance, the Visiting Nurse Association lovingly collected and then delivered 182 pairs of socks to the Source (a homeless shelter in Vero Beach). A Big thanks to Vero ENT, who collected 106 pairs of socks for Breath of Heaven Ministries - Great Work LADIES!! Susie (on the right) is our Comfort Box rep for the Vero Beach, Fl area. We received this personal email from the Greatnonprofits Team….
Congratulations! Comfort Socks has qualified for a 2013 Top-Rated Nonprofit award from Greatnonprofits. This is a great honor, given less than 10% of eligible nonprofits have received this distinction. We are so proud!!...we could not do anything except for you, our supporters....

From our Friends at Stand U for Kids – Seattle Chapter
It takes many community partners to take care of our kids, and this is a huge thank-you to our wonderful friends at Comfort Socks for being such a continuing part of our outreach efforts. Each time we stop to talk with a young person who is
struggling with life on the street, it's as if the Comfort Socks team is standing with us, giving hope and encouragement with each warm and dry pair of socks we give.

From Supply Elementary School and PowerWalking Ministries (Wendy Jones pictured here) “We are so grateful for all the socks donated by Comfort Socks for our school age children.” Powerwalking Ministries provides shoes and socks to school children in the Southport area. Comfort Socks is proud to support our local community.
