    New Socks for Homeless Shelters

It's Just So Interesting.....

Have you heard the expression "Bless My Cotton Socks"? Here is the background on where the phrase orginated.

GEORGE Edward Lynch Cotton became Bishop of Calcutta in 1858 and while there established schools for Eurasian children.  A man of great sensitivity, he ordered crates full of socks for the children, to be worn during lessons. It was the rule of the Bishop to bless all goods which arrived at the schools. A zealous member of staff one day distributed socks before the blessing,  so thereafter every time a shipment arrived a note was placed on them to the effect: 'Cotton's socks for blessing'. Cotton's socks soon became corrupted to cotton socks. When the Bishop was drowned in the Ganges on October 6, 1866, a despatch was sent to the Archbishop to ask: 'Who will bless his cotton socks?'                                     Credit: (Mrs) Jane M Glossop, Pwllheli, Gwynedd.

Comfort Socks makes a point to pray over every single pair that goes out our door. Running across this story today was a great confirmation for us.

Comfort the Feet, Comfort the Soul.

Special Thanks..

A Big Thank You to BEMC for allowing Comfort Socks to be a grant recipient this year. We were in excellent company, with so many of our local charities receiving funds to continue their work, and a warm reception from BEMC Board of Directors and Marketing Staff. We are so proud right now!

Thank you, South Shore College Women's Club (SSCWC), for showing 175 people they are loved. The soft and comfortable socks will wrap them up in your kindness.

It is a special thing to care about ones fellow man. To provide for their needs when you will never see the smile that results from your gift. Yet, somehow, our spirit and minds eyes shows us the gratitude of the sock recipient. Thank You so much, Jeffery Haynie, for your precious gift to Comfort Socks and your response to the prompting of your love and spirit.
