New Socks for Homeless Shelters

Baby It's Cold Outside

Even the Wind Wears Socks.

Did you know that having cold feet can lower the white blood cells of your immune system? In 2005, there was a study that proved people are almost 30% more likely to come down with a flu when their feet are cold for just 20 minutes during flu season. http://www.nutribuff.com/exercise/keeping-your-feet-warm-for-a-stronger-immune-system/

We've Got Work to Do ! Warm the Feet, Comfort the Soul.

Teachers - did you know that a sock drive by your student(s) qualify as community service? Yes - Comfort Socks is a 501c3 public charity - Let's get our youth involved more than ever this year.

Sock Statements

"A traveler on foot in this country seems to be considered as a sort of wild man or out-of-the way being, who is stared at, pitied, suspected, and shunned by everybody that meets him."   Karl Philipp Moritz

"Toe: A part of the foot used to find furniture in the dark. " Unknown

Thank you, Sock Collectors, Keep em Coming

We just love it when organizations step into our shoes (excuse the pun) – but just have to give a shout out of thanks to the General Federation of Womens Clubs of South Brunswick Islands for their time and effort – over 100 feet will be warmed because of their choice to reach out. Thank you gfwcsbi. http://www.gfwcsbi.org/

We want to thank Cheers Insurance Agency for being one of Comfort Socks drop box locations. Coupled with a push for food donations, Cheers Insurance Agency also compelled people to drop off new socks in the Big Sock Boxes located at both their Shallotte and Sunset Beach office during the month of December. Thank you, Cheers Insurance Agency, for your heart for our community. http://agency.nationwide.com/agent/phillip-w-cheers-320003365-32000336500000/our-agency?q=&t=&loc=

Many Many thanks to the friends and staff of Carolina House in Wake Forest, NC for allowing the Comfort Socks mission to be a part of their Christmas celebration. Special thanks to Roseann Zambuto McFadden, Comfort Socks supporter and good friend, who presented the idea of a Comfort Socks giving tree to Carolina House. The guests of Carolina House decorated paper socks for socks donated. The tree looked beautiful :) So many thanks for the 100+ pairs of socks received, and for the generous heart that put the Comfort Socks giving tree in motion.

We just love to get socks from all over – this month we received socks Peter and Lorraine Byrne of Georgia. Every pair matters to the men and women whose feet are now nice and warm. Keep em coming and we will keep sending them out.

What a great surprise we received from the parents, students and faculty of Dutch Fork High School in Irmo SC. Their winter sock drive brought just the right touch to the Comfort Socks mission. How? Because the socks received were warm, heavyweight, durable, some even had the anti-fungal attributes to them. Perfect for a homeless situation. Now that is what I call doing their homework! Special thanks to teachers Nicole Tese Gladden and Carol Jackson for spearheading the project and yeilding great results.

Thank You Contributors - for Your Faithfulness

Let us not forget why we are here. For every smile you see, there are many more people who do not have a smile to share. Contrary to the common view one might have of a homeless person, many found in shelters today are there because there simply is not steady work. Able and willing to work, searching every day, they move from city to city hoping something will open up. We appreciate your help so much but those you have helped by your support are grateful in a way they cannot express. We have the honor to thank you for them.

Your support of Comfort Socks has allowed us to receive 43,860 pairs of socks so far.  We are so grateful to all our supporters. First: We wish Comfort and Compassion are known by our actions and to all sock recipients.  Second: We pray for Blessings for our supporters, sock recipients, and those without a home. Third: Please stay mindful of us and remember us monthly, if you can. Special Thanks to New Life Christian Fellowship for allowing us the use of their facilities and for their prayers and support for our mission.

Do you own real estate may wish to donate to us? Did you know that under the new health care bill real estate transactions may be subject to a 3.8% sales tax ? Now might be a  BEST time to consider the tax benefits of donating property to a non-profit like Comfort Socks. If you have a piece of property that you are unable to sell or lease, a donation of that real estate to Comfort Socks would be of interest to us and may be of great benefit to you. Please contact me so we can discuss these opportunities.
