Comfort Socks Newsletter - May 2012 - Socks for the Homeless

Sock Shares

Chris Chaddell, director of Lifeline Ministries of Ky, shared with us the impact that Comfort Socks has on Lifelines monthly outreach to the homeless. I am privileged to share this with you
…  The little girl and her sister walked bare foot to our center with no shoes and socks on their feet (yes, this actually happened in this day and age!)  You can imagine the blessing and honor it was for our ministry team to send these lit
tle girls home with brand new socks and several pairs of shoes a piece as well.  This would not have been possible had God not connected Comfort Socks with LifeLine Ministries of NKY several years ago.  Thousands have had their lives enriched and made more comfortable because they've received brand new socks. You can help LIFELINE receive a free brand new Toyota Truck for their ministry by voting for them on June 8th - find out more here http://lifelineofnky.org/toyota-100-cars-for-good

Socks Lead Couple Down the Isle.
"I thought that I wouldn't be able to bear losing this person, so I proposed to him", Lee said on the SBS program "Midnight TV Entertainment" on Sept. 2. "I once saw him wearing socks that didn't match and knew that I wanted to be the person who would make sure he had matching socks for the rest of his life". Read the whole story here: http://www.hancinema.net/how-socks-pushed-an-actress-down-the-aisle-25007.html

From the Movie Forest Gump
Lt. Dan: "There is one item of G.I. gear that can be the difference between a live grunt and a dead grunt. Socks. Cushioned sole, O.D. green. Try and keep your feet dry. When we're out humpin', I want you boys te remember to change your socks whenever we stop. The Mekong will eat a grunts feet right off his legs."

A Great Big Thank You to our Sock Collectors

Northpines
has done it again - we needed socks and they delivered. The socks are sure to bring a much needed relief to the homeless. Please check them out and give them some business. They have great merchandise and even greater prices (cute sun dresses too). http://northpines.org/index.html Thank You Northpines, we appreciate you.

Susie - our Comfort Box volunteer in Florida - has completed her first sock collection delivering close to 100 pairs of socks to The Source in Vero Beach, FL. If you are in Florida and want to collect socks in your area, just contact Susie at vbsocks@hotmail.com. You will be glad you did. Thank you, Susie

Thank You Contributors - for your Faithfulness

Comfort Socks is so grateful for our supporters. Encouragement comes in the form of phone calls, facebook interaction, donations of resources and socks. I know many of you enjoy reading about those who help, and seeing all the pictures of the smiles with socks - and we enjoy sharing the pleasure side of our mission too - but please, let us not forget why we are here. For every smile you see, there are many more people who do not have a smile to share. I encourage you today to visit our donation page at  http://comfortsocksonline.org/dontoday.php or send your donation to our PO Box 477 Supply, NC 28462. We appreciate your help so much but those you have helped by your support are grateful in a way they cannot express. We have the honor to thank you for them.

Your support of Comfort Socks has allowed us to receive 37,267 pairs of socks so far.  We are so grateful to all our supporters. First: We wish Comfort and Compassion are known by our actions and to all sock recipients.  Second: We pray for Blessings for our supporters, sock recipients, and those without a home. Third: Please stay mindful of us and remember us monthly, if you can. Special Thanks to New Life Christian Fellowship for allowing us the use of their facilities and for their prayers and support for our mission and for those without a home.

P.S.
Comfort Socks is currently investigating the benefits to a person or entity who has real estate that they may wish to donate to us. If you have a piece of property that you are unable to sell or lease, a donation of that real estate to Comfort Socks would be of interest to us and may be of great benefit to you. Please contact me if you think you may be interested in donating real estate to Comfort Socks.
